  Let Them Ride:

Let Them Ride is one of the generally lesser-known variations of poker. Let Them Ride does use the same card hand rankings as other types of poker. However, this is where its similarities to other games stop. This is quite a shame, given that it has many interesting features that make it very different from other poker games. These differences can be found throughout the game’s mechanics, encompassing the playing procedures and the betting rules.

To begin with, Let Them Ride is a game that a player carries out alone. There are no opponents or dealers to compete against. The dealer gives you your cards, but will not be taking any cards himself or herself to match against yours.

Here is how the game works. As with many casino games, you start by placing your initial bets. In Let Them Ride, you actually end up placing three bets, which should all be of equivalent amounts. Then you are given three cards. Two others will be dealt, but they will be placed facedown on the table, instead of being handed to you. The point of the game is to form the best poker hand that you can from the three cards and two community cards. When you see your first three cards, you get a chance to remove one of your three equal-sized bets from the table. This option is known as the Pull Out. However, if you believe your odds are good, based on the cards you have seen, you choose the option known as Let Them Ride, which means you leave your bets as they are. When you turn over the first community card, you get another chance to remove a bet from the table.

Let Them Ride

The final payout, if any, comes once all the cards have been turned over and your hand, whatever it is, is completed. You will receive money according to the strength of your completed poker hand, and the amount of money left on the table. The ideal outcomes are to have bet a large amount of money on what turned out to be a good hand, or lost only a small amount of money on a bad hand.

Many casinos also offer a side betting option. All you have to bet is a dollar per hand. This extra dollar puts you in the running for several large bonus payouts, should you happen to have certain cards in your hand. These special cards tend to differ from casino to casino. This extra dollar can be a good investment, even if your budget is somewhat tight.

Let Them Ride is fundamentally different from other types of poker, despite the fact that it utilizes the same ranking system. Its nature as a game without an opponent sets it apart from other games like Texas Hold ‘Em, in which players oppose each other, and Pai Gow Poker, in which players match their hands against those of the dealer. Instead, a player’s real opponents are the luck of the draw, and his or her own doubts and anxieties. Also, as we have seen, the betting rules of Let Them Ride are very unusual. In other types of poker variation, particularly Texas Hold ‘Em, players are forced to either keep raising their bets or throw in the towel. However, Let Them Ride does precisely the opposite. Players can actually lower the amount of money they wager, as the game progresses. Let us now evaluate the effects of these differences on the playing experience.

Let Them Ride Poker

Firstly, let us discuss the solitary nature of Let Them Ride. Players who think that competition brings out the best of their abilities might feel quite frustrated with this game. Over time, players who started out quite enthusiastic may begin to feel claustrophobic, as the most dramatic conflict in this game goes on inside their own heads. However, the lack of external human opponents does mean that players have more time and energy to devote themselves to the complexities of the actual card game. They will be able to take as much time as they like to think out their strategy or make their decisions. Also, if the player happens to be an introvert by nature, he or she is unlikely to miss the presence of opponents.

Now, on to the betting process. How does the wager system in this game make you feel and think as you play? At the outset, its highly unusual nature may be disorienting. Poker player who are used to choosing whether or not to raise bets may not know what to do when faced with the opposite choice, i.e. whether or not to lower bets. In fact, they might even have a harder time getting used to the rules than inexperienced players would, because poker newbies will not have to deal with all the mental habits built up over years of playing other types of poker. Such players may have a difficult time developing a consistent strategy, initially veering from conservatism to aggressiveness at the drop of a hat. Even so, one gets used to the betting system after a few rounds. The point, as in other poker games, is not to get fazed by minor setbacks, and to be able to tell the difference between a temporary downturn and the start of a genuine losing streak. After all, poker strategies are usually developed for long games, and are constructed to accommodate losses. Similar strategies may be developed for this variation of poker, even if the bets are lowered, instead of raised.

To wrap up this review, we can say that fans of poker will find this game an interesting spin on the familiar types of poker. Many of them will be eager to learn this game and add it to their playing arsenal. Financially cautious players will also find the wager-reducing option very appealing, especially in these trying times. Let Them Ride is thus likely to have a very broad-based appeal. Though players go through this game alone, they will find more than enough to engage them, and to keep them at the table.
