  Aces and Faces:

Video poker games are quite trendy these days, in both brick-and-mortar casinos and their online counterparts. There always seem to be new variations cropping up. It is no wonder that many players are confused about which ones to spend their hard-earned money on. If they wish, they can experiment by playing a few hands on a wide variety of games. However, playing poker games for a short time rarely gives a good indication of the real game experience, or the odds of hitting it big. Also, playing several short games can be less financially sound than playing one long game: remember that most advanced poker strategies are played out over the long term. Short games tend to be more dependent on pure luck. Here and now, the question is: is Aces and Faces worth spending a lot of time and money on?

Like most other Bonus Poker games, this one is, fundamentally, a variation on Five Card Draw. At the beginning of the game, the machine gives you five virtual cards. After looking at these original cards, you remove some from your hand, and substitute these with new cards that you draw. Hopefully, the drawn cards will be better than your discarded ones. (Getting a worse hand instead of a better one is one of the biggest disappointments one encounters in Draw Poker games.) One of its closest “relatives” among Bonus Poker games is probably Aces and Eights, which operates under similar rules and gives more or less the same payouts. The main difference is in the types of bonus cards privileged by each game.

Aces and Faces

The objective of the game is to come up with royal flushes, straights, and other good poker hands. Of course, this being a Bonus Poker game, the special bonus combinations are very sought-after, as well. Some of the largest payouts are (of course) for sets of aces of all four suits, or equal-value face cards of all four suits (four kings, four queens or four jacks). Of course, the higher the amount of money you wager, the more money you get, since payouts are usually computed as multiples of your original wager. In Aces and Faces, the highest reward possible amounts to four thousand coins. The very highest prize comes if you get a royal flush, which will yield a payout of five hundred to one. This is consisted with other types of Bonus Poker, in which the royal flush is still considered the best hand, even better than the “special” bonus cards.

This game’s simplicity may be a big draw. Many poker players will be familiar with the fundamentals of this game, since Five Card Draw is a popular game outside of casinos. It is usually taught to young card-players as their first game. Players familiar with Five Card Draw can simply be told what the special bonus cards are, and will be able to play right away. In addition, this game does not have the same level of complexity as the multi-line video poker game Ace Invaders. Some poker lovers may lament the absence of Ace Invader-style intricacies, but on the other hand, it’s good to have a Bonus Poker game that will not confuse beginners. Neophytes may play Aces and Faces, and, if they feel like it, move on to more complicated games later.

Betting is also fairly simple. You usually specify the value of your wager by clicking on buttons that increase or decrease the amount of money entered in the field on the screen. You can change the amount of money you wager whenever you move on to a new hand. (Of course, you will have to enter money before actually seeing your hand, so there is always an element of thrill and guesswork in wagering.) Fickle and/or conservative players will be comforted by the fact that they can change their wagers easily. However, if you find all that button-clicking a hassle, you are free to simply use the same wager arrangement again and again.

Aces and Faces Video Poker

As far as strategy is concerned, the main issue in any type of Bonus Poker game is whether you want to concentrate on getting bonus combinations or assembling high-ranking poker hands. The latter tends to be the better idea, for most games. However, the rules for Aces and Faces can support an argument that can be better to throw conventional poker tactics to the winds in favor of going after the prized bonus cards. Aces and Eights, for example, only privileges two card values. However, Aces and Faces offers bonuses for four. In sum, the Aces and Faces bonus card odds are twice as good as those in the similar Aces and Eights game.

The only fly in this ointment is that you cannot avail of any Wild cards to complete a hand or set of cards. However, we cannot really single out Aces and Faces for this “flaw,” since many card games do not allow the use of Wild cards, anyway.

If you are interested in trying out Aces and Faces, you will not have a hard time finding an opportunity to do so. This game can be found on several websites. Sometimes, the entire site is devoted to Aces and Faces. Other times, this game is just one of the many offered by a large online gambling house. If you play online, you will probably have to download software. Aces and Faces games are usually formatted for Windows-based systems, but if you do a little digging, you will probably find one that matches your own programming. Many sites offer the software free. This does not necessarily mean that you are getting scammed. After all, you will still be asked to set up an account at the casino, and this is how they will make money from you. It is much like a brick-and-mortar casino, where you can walk through the door for free, but need money to play.

If you like Bonus Poker games in general, Aces and Faces is an especially good one. You will not have wasted your time and money, or the effort you put into developing your strategy. Aces and Faces is a good example of how a relatively basic and informal can, through innovation, evolve into something much more fun and exciting.
