Michigan and Michigan State Betting Odds Posted For Several Key Games

Sportsbooks have given Michigan and Michigan State fans something to think about and bet on as the 2024 college football season draws near. FanDuel Michigan and BetRivers Michigan have posted odds for some of the bigger games both schools are scheduled to play this season.

The other big Michigan sports betting apps will release their own point spreads and totals as the season gets closer.

Why bet now when so much could happen between now and game time? Because if you think a team is getting under or overvalued, you may want to put your bets down now before the lines change. Even though the season is more than three months away, Michigan bettors can wager on Michigan and Michigan State in the futures markets, too.

Michigan State Vs. Michigan Betting Odds

FanDuel Michigan opened this point spread with Michigan laying eight points (-8) for the Oct. 29 game in Ann Arbor.

Michigan had no answer for Spartans running back Kenneth Walker in last season’s matchup. Walker dominated the game with 197 yards and five touchdowns. There is no telling if the Michigan defense will be any better at stopping the run this season, but at least the Wolverines will not have to face Walker again since he’s moved on to the NFL.

Betting Odds For Select Michigan State Games

Michigan State at Washington, Sept. 17

Sportsbook Point Spread Moneyline
FanDuel Washington +3 (-115)
Michigan State -3 (-105)
NA
BetRivers Washington +3.5 (-118)
Michigan State -3.5 (-103)
Washington +118
Michigan State -143

The Spartans may need to lean on their defense a little in the early games, like this one, as the offense figures out how to replace Walker and three offensive linemen. Having nine starters coming back on defense seems like a good sign, but the unit gave up 27.3 points a game last season.

They’ll certainly have to play better if they are going to slow down Washington’s new quarterback, Indiana transfer Michael Penix Jr.

Michigan State at Penn State, Nov. 26

  • Michigan State +6.5 (-110)
  • Penn State -6.5 (-110)

The Spartans have lost six of their last 10 matchups with the Nittany Lions but won a close one at home last year, 30-27. However, that was with the benefit of a strong running game, which they may or may not have this year. Even if they do have a run game, the defense will need to find a way to slow down Sean Clifford. Clifford had his way with the Spartans’ defense last season, throwing for 313 yards and three touchdowns.

Betting Odds For Select Michigan Games

Michigan at Iowa, Oct. 1

Sportsbook Point Spread Moneyline
FanDuel Iowa +4 (-110)
Michigan -4 (-110)
NA
BetRivers Iowa +5 (-110)
Michigan -5 (-110)
Iowa +155
Michigan -200

Last season, the Wolverines crushed the Hawkeyes in the Big Ten Championship game, 42-3, but the Michigan defense that dominated that game must be rebuilt in 2024 as eight starters are gone. Most of the offense is back, but Michigan will need to find two new offensive linemen.

Iowa has 17 returning starters, including eight from one of the best defenses in the nation last season.

Penn State at Michigan, Oct. 15

Sportsbook Point Spread Moneyline
FanDuel Penn State +6.5 (-110)
Michigan -6.5 (-110)
NA
BetRivers Penn State +5.5 (-106)
Michigan -5.5 (-115)
Penn State +160
Michigan -200

When these two teams meet in mid-October, we will have a pretty good idea of how good Michigan’s rebuilt defense is. However, the edge may still go to the Penn State offense led by Clifford, a redshirt senior with 37 games under his belt with a 2-1 record against the Wolverines.

Nebraska at Michigan, Nov. 12

  • Nebraska +11.5 (-110)
  • Michigan -11.5 (-110)

Wolverines fans are probably glad they will not see Adrian Martinez at QB this season for the Cornhuskers. He shredded the Michigan defense for 329 yards of total offense and four touchdowns last season, but Nebraska will get an upgrade at quarterback this year with former Texas QB Casey Thompson transferring in.

Michigan at Ohio State, Nov. 26

  • Michigan +13.5 (-110)
  • Ohio State -13.5 (-110)

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh finally got his first win against the Wolverines’ most-hated rival last season. A solid performance by the offense against a lackluster Buckeye defense was instrumental to the victory. However, the Michigan defense won the day — and it was decimated by the NFL Draft.

Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud lost two of his best wide receivers, but he’s the Heisman Trophy frontrunner. He’ll make whoever lines up at receiver for Ohio State look like a future NFL star.
