How to Read Casino Bonus Terms Before You Opt In

By CRB Editorial Desk

A casino bonus is a contract, and the headline offer is only the first line of it. The terms page decides what the offer is worth to you. Reading it takes a few minutes, and those minutes are the difference between a bonus you can use and one that locks your balance.

Start with what the bonus applies to

Some offers match a deposit, some add free spins on named slots, and some return part of your net losses. Each type comes with its own rules. Check which games count toward the playthrough, because table games and live dealer titles often count for less than slots or are excluded altogether.

Find the playthrough and the time limit

The playthrough tells you how much you must wager before bonus money turns into cash you can withdraw. Look at whether it applies to the bonus alone or to the bonus plus your deposit, since that changes the total a great deal. Then find the deadline. An offer that expires before you could reasonably finish the playthrough is not a good fit for how you play.

Watch the maximum bet and the cash-out cap

Many terms set a largest allowed bet while a bonus is active. Going over it, even once, can void the bonus and any winnings from it. Some offers also cap how much you can withdraw from bonus play. If a cap exists, compare it with the playthrough before you accept.

Know how to decline

You can usually play without a bonus. If the terms do not suit you, skip the opt-in box or ask support to remove an offer before you start playing. Keeping your own deposit free of restrictions is a valid choice.
