Michigan Sports Betting Prep: BetRivers Signs Detroit-Native Jerome Bettis As Brand Ambassador

On January 8, BetRivers announced a content deal with Jerome Bettis. Bettis, a Detroit native, is one of the NFL’s greatest-ever running backs. Bettis joins Betrivers as part of the sportsbook and casino site’s “Bet with a Winner” campaign.

Richard Schwartz, President of Rush Street Interactive, said: “No matter where he was, growing up in Detroit, playing at Notre Dame, or during his iconic career in Pittsburgh, Jerome Bettis made a positive impact on and off the field. We are thrilled for Jerome to bring his authenticity and winning ways to the passionate sports bettors on BetRivers.com.”

BetRivers’ Latest Brand Ambassador

Jerome “The Bus” Bettis will become an exclusive ambassador of the BetRivers brand, particularly the sportsbook product. The NFL hall-of-famer will act as a spokesperson for the brand in addition to offering exclusive insight on BetRivers’ social media platforms.

Though Bettis earned most of his career accolades with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he capped off his storied time in the NFL with a Super Bowl win in front of a hometown Detroit audience.

BetRivers In Michigan

BetRivers and parent company Rush Street Interactive has always had its eye on the proverbial ball with regard to sports betting expansion.

Michigan has long been approaching an online sports betting and mobile casino launch. In fact, the Great Lakes State is expected to launch online sports betting sometime this month. BetRivers has already laid the groundwork for success in the Michigan market. The brand is partnered with Little River Casino Resort, a Manistee property owned and operated by the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians.

With a land-based partner locked in and a new brand ambassador on board, BetRivers is ready to make a splash in Michigan alongside major competitors such as BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, and others.

Rush Street Interactive also went public last year via a deal with dMY Technology Group, a Special Purpose Acquisition Company. Public offerings via SPACs are becoming somewhat of the norm in the online gambling space. DraftKings took the same route to the public market, as did Golden Nugget Online Gaming. Both companies are also expected to be major players in the Michigan gaming scene.

Simply put, sports betting in Michigan is shaping up to be a competitive landscape. And the next few weeks will likely show us a few early leaders in the state.
