Major Online Casino Company Playtech Coming To Michigan Via Gun lake Casino Partnership

Greenwood Racing Inc. has partnered with online casino giant Playtech to bring some of the world’s most popular games to four US states, starting with Michigan. This marks the beginning of Playtech’s entry into the American market, where online casinos were outlawed nationwide until 2018.

Through the partnership, Playtech’s casino games will also become available in Pennsylvania and New Jersey pending approval from the relevant regulatory bodies. Playtech and Greenwood Racing also plan to launch a product in Indiana, but that’s pending online casino legalization, which may happen in 2021.

What We Know About The New Michigan Online Casino And Sportsbook

In March 2020, Greenwood Racing Inc. established a partnership with Gun Lake Casino in Wayland, MI to bring online sports betting and casino gaming to Michigan. But in the month since Michigan launched online gambling on January 22, 2021, Gun Lake Casino has yet to offer an online gambling platform.

Now that Playtech joins the deal, a new online gaming product is on its way to Michigan in the near future. While no date is set, you can expect the launch within the next few months.

Greenwood Racing Inc. owns Parx Casino in Philadelphia, which launched Pennsylvania’s Parx Online Casino and Sportsbook in 2019. It’s likely that Playtech’s games will be added to the existing Parx Online Casino games. It’s also likely that the online casino and sportsbook in Michigan will look similar to the established Parx Online Casino Pennsylvania.

As it stands, we don’t even know if the platform will be called Parx Online Casino Michigan, Play Gun Lake, or a brand-new name.

In terms of the sportsbook, it’s possible that Playtech will power that as well. In Pennsylvania, Kambi powers the Parx Sportsbook. However, Kambi already entered into a partnership with Four Winds Casinos in Michigan, so their involvement with the Gun Lake Casino online launch is unclear as well.

Why Playtech In Michigan Is A Big Deal

Most online casino players outside of the US are familiar with Playtech’s catalog of slots and table games. Along with Microgaming and NetEnt, Playtech is considered one of the big three online casino studios that have led the industry since day one.

This brand began powering online casinos in 1999, making it one of the first legitimate online gaming products in the world. Since then, Playtech has remained on the cutting edge of online gaming design and innovation. Over the years, Playtech also acquired Ash Gaming, Psiclone Games, and Quickspin, three other famous producers of high-quality online casino games.

Thanks to Playtech’s new partnership with Greenwood Racing, much of that world-renowned casino action will be available in Michigan soon, followed by New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and (possibly) Indiana.
