  Deal or No Deal:

Deal or No Deal is one of the most popular game shows on TV in the US, which instantly became a worldwide phenomenon. Due to the massive success of this game show franchise, video game developers have decided to make a video game out of this hit TV show, allowing gamers to feel what it is like to be in the position of contestants playing for a million dollar on this game show. The catch though is that you can only win money based on the game currency but is nonetheless an exciting experience for everyone playing it.

The Deal or No Deal video game is developed for the Nintendo DS and you can get your own copy for $30. It seems like a cheap bargain for a highly exciting game. The game show host Howie Mandel is also making an appearance in the game and there are several game formats available to choose from here, enabling you to experience the game however you like it. There are voice samples from the host himself, although several gamers have pointed issues on the highly pixilated graphics that offer several rooms for improvement.

This game was published by Imagination Entertainment and is recommended for ages 13 and above. It can be played in a single- or two-player format. In one multiplayer game format, one is given the opportunity to compete with another to get the best deal. In another multiplayer game, the other player takes on the role of the banker to make the offers that will try to convince you to quit the game even before the content of your chosen briefcase is displayed.

Deal or No Deal

It follows the same rules as the original game show from which it was based on. The show host Howie Mandel is also making an appearance in this DS video game, which even features actual voice samples from Howie himself to add realism into depiction. Meanwhile, the crowd realistically cheers on or groans accordingly, depending on the amounts revealed on the briefcase to create that same atmosphere as the actual game show.

Rules

One of the major appeals of this game (and originally, the TV show) that had made it a hit all over the world is the idiot-proof approach in the game concept. All you have to do is pick one briefcase out of 26 briefcases in total. The number contained within your chosen briefcase is not revealed until after all of the other boxes were opened, or when you agree to a deal given by a mysterious “banker”, at which point you receive the amount offered by the banker. Unlike other game shows that involve a question-and-answer approach, this one entails a lot of luck and proper use of strategy on whether to accept the deal given by the banker or not.

Each of the 26 briefcase that you have to choose from are assigned different dollar amounts in random. Once you have picked a briefcase to yourself, you must then eliminate the 25 other briefcases one at a time by choosing them according to the order you prefer to individually reveal them to you and the audience. In between all of these, you will be given an offer by the “banker” asking you to accept the money he offers and walk away from the game. The amount of his offer is dependent on your chances of picking out the briefcase with the highest possible amount that you can win in this game, which is one million dollars.

Deal or No Deal Slot

To break monotony in the overall gameplay, there are also bonus games that you can play. One specific bonus game is a high-low game wherein you must determine whether the next number to be revealed is higher or lower than the one that was revealed before that.

Types of Bets

There are basically no bets involved in this game. As with the TV game show, Deal or No Deal for the DS only involves picking out one of 26 briefcases, then flipping the non-chosen briefcases one at a time.

You do get the ability to strategize by assessing the chances of your briefcase containing the million dollars against the amount offered by the banker, which will ensure that you could win the highest possible amount of money you can win (in-game, though), whether it be the million or not. Your bet at picking the million dollar briefcase is at the ratio of 1:26.

Strategies

While the concept of translating the hit TV show Deal or No Deal into video game format on the DS was a promising one, there are several missing aspects that need to be corrected. Or at least, for those who want some challenge in their gameplay. If you want to pick the million dollar box every single time, then you need to use this specific strategy to outperform the game.

There are both development and design lapses in the game that you need to take advantage of. If you want to break this game, simply avoid randomizing the dollar amounts in the briefcases. The result? The game refers to a pre-determined template that will automatically assign the dollar amounts across all 26 briefcases. Therefore, all you have left to do is play through each of the templates at least once to figure out where the amounts are placed. Once you can remember fully where the desirable amounts are, it should be easy to make the best deal every single time.

Experience

As much as this game does not weigh heavily on wit or luck, but instead proper use of strategy, then anyone can play and win Deal or No Deal video game. It does not require experience since the concept is pretty straightforward.

The only thing that you need to worry about when playing this game is to choose the right briefcase, although that in itself is quite a vague approach since no one knows where the different denominations are assigned. At the same time, it also helps to create a feeling of intensity and tension that has propelled the TV show from which the game was based on to extreme popularity.
